Official FAQ
- What is agentic payments?
- Agentic payments is infrastructure that lets AI agents pay and get paid autonomously: an agent spends within a budget a human delegates to it, and a merchant meters and charges agents per call, session, or outcome. Nevermined provides both sides - spend controls for agents and metered acceptance for merchants - with every transaction attributed and recorded.
- How do I delegate a card to an AI agent?
- Enroll a card once, set a mandate (budget, duration, and what the agent may buy), and hand your agent its credential. It then spends within those limits with any agent-enabled merchant, from any framework, and you can revoke it instantly.
- How do I accept payments from AI agents?
- Connect the PSP you already use, set your pricing (per call, per session, credits, or subscription), and add one payment handshake to your API or MCP server. Agents then pay you autonomously while you keep your existing settlement and payout.
- What is Nevermined Pay?
- Nevermined Pay lets AI agents make real purchases with a user's existing credit or debit card, within strict spending rules the user defines. Think of it as a power-of-attorney for payments: scoped, time-limited, and instantly revocable.
- Is this a virtual card or a prepaid account?
- Neither. It's your actual card. Nevermined tokenizes it at enrollment so the agent never sees the card number - only a scoped virtual card credential that encodes identity, spending limits, and merchant restrictions.
- What is x402?
- x402 is an open HTTP standard for agent payments. When an agent hits a paywall, the server responds with 402 Payment Required. The agent attaches a payment credential in the next request header and the purchase completes in milliseconds. No checkout, no redirect.
